Children Are People Too
Guiding Principles
There is no right way to do the wrong thing.
If you use power, you will lose influence.
You do not have to tolerate intolerable (inconsiderate) behaviour.
If you want children to develop a healthy self-esteem, do not praise them.
Children need coaches, not cheerleaders.
Look for a solution, not a culprit.
You cannot reason with people while they are being unreasonable.
When someone is drowning, that is not the time to give swimming lessons.
Consistency is unnecessary – but repeated practice helps.
Focus on present conditions that maintain the problem, not past causes (as the past cannot be changed).
If something isn’t working, don’t do it again.
When you cannot play in a friendly way, you cannot play.
