Author Forums: Cory Doctorow
What Doctorow should I start with?
Are any of his books or short stories serilized or best read in a certain order?

While (from the few I read) they aren't really in order, I suggest reading Little Brother first. Gives you a good idea of how he writes, and how awesome he his at it.

I agree that it probably doesn't matter which book you read first, but my favorite, so far, is Someone Comes To Town . . .

I would say With A Little Help-simply because it has comments from the author after each of the 12 stories. So it is the most personal of the reads offered here.

My vote is for Makers, but that's probably because that's the book I started with. Also, as a geek who tends to have a ton of projects going on all at once, I found it to be pretty motivating and inspirational. Because what better to help you get excited about making cool things than reading about other people making cool things?

I started with his short story "When Sysadmins Ruled The Earth." I still prefer it over most of his novels.
