About: Don Quixote

Terrible translation

circleb says:
This translation somehow manages to drain all the wit from Don Quixote. It's quite awful - reads like some public domain version translated by computer.

Sorry to hear that. It is an older translation, since the newer ones are not in the public domain. We will look into alternative translations -- suggestions welcome!

Any chance we could just get an original non translated version?

albert says:
That's already available as Don Quijote I and II. Just search for "Don" and you will find it.

It's not free, but pick up the Edith Grossman translation, which is fantastic.

Tobias Smollett translated it in 1755. According to Salman Rushdie (in an interview w/ Terry Gilliam on the "Lost in La Mancha" DVD, it is a lively accessible, though not completely faithful) translation.
