I thought it would be fitting for the first Les Miserables thread to be a running record of who had finished reading the book through Daily Lit. Simply post the date you started reading, and the date that you finished. Feel free to include a breif overview of your thoughts on the book, but try to keep spoilers to a minimum. If spoilers are a must, please label them clearly. Now, have fun!

I have just started (I'm on Part 25) and I am increasingly aware of my lack of knowledge of the French Revolution. Does anyone know a good resource to get an overview, or a timeline? It would really help me put things in perspective. TIA!

SparkNotes to the rescue. Here's info about the French Revolution:

I don't know if you've ever heard of Sparknotes -- it's basically study guides targeted to high school and college students -- and the way they carry it off is fantastic. They are a genuinely great way to get a basis in quite a few subjects.

I post a question, and forget to check for a reply... a belated thank you, Cien! Just what I was looking for.

I just started today (I'm sure it will take me several months to finish, as I read at work in between phone calls). Is this really the complete unabridged book? I could swear it would be more like 1000 parts. Also, for those who might know, how's the translation?
