Book & Review Forums: Journey to the Centre of the Earth
Disappointing

I really didn't enjoy this book as much as I had hoped to. I found the main character (Henry) to be one of the most irritating characters I have ever come across in literature. To call him melodramatic is the understatement of the century. I also found the other characters to be extremely flat and uninteresting.

I agree completely that The characters were very flat and that Henry was melodramatic. He acted as if he would die in even the smallest situations. He and the Professor were both irritating.

I somewhat agree. Henry and the Prof should have, by all rights, died early in the expedition. I credit Hans with not only keeping them alive, but also keeping me interested.

Henry did act like a wienie a lot of the time but if all 3 of them had been unfazed by the journey it wouldn't have been very 'believable'.
