Book & Review Forums: My Antonia

Land

I am aware of the use of land to create mood and tone. Although, when he is introduced to his grandfather, he speaks of "being in awe", however, it is the descriptiveness of any environment that speaks awe, or comfort, or any other tone and mood. This is working for me.

I believe this too! This author is great at descriptions. The shift from one post to the next feels choppy. I wonder how it would feel if I was reading the whole book at once.

  • I, too, found the metaphor of the land to be most meaningful. I'm reading my 4th book through Daily Lit, but I think this is the one I enjoyed the most!

  • My reflectins are more like a journal too. I hadn't read any other posts, or ever done this kind of thing before so just wrote what came to the top of my mind.
Like you, I am thunderstruck by the effective description. I was there in the old west.
As for reading in short posts being choppy, maybe so, but this is a new way of reading for me so I don't know what I think. I do think that maybe I'm getting more reading done than if I were trying to make time to sit down for a long while with a book.
    Enough for now
