  • Yes, but that was during my university years almost 40 years ago. I've just decided to read it again to see if it still had such visceral power.

  • I read this book just a few months ago. It is nothing less than a true classic. It just binds you in its own world of the bad and the good.

  • I'm reading it now and I like it though it's not easy to read (English is my third language)

  • Catherine is not as feisty as Emily Bronte. Emily could shoot a pistol and she was a brainy stock investor who made a comfortable living in railroad investments, the tech of her day.

  • This book is nothing short of amazing. It's so different from every Victorian novel. . . it has themes of vampirism, necrophiliasm, and of course undying love. It's wonderful. :)

  • I've read it many years ago, didn't like it very much. I found it claustrophobic. The obsession of the entire family is a sickness in itself.

  • I read it a few months ago. It was interesting...not my favorite book certainly, but I did enjoy it to an extent. I have to say though, that I'm not sure I could have approached it the same way if I hadn't read the Twilight series. At one point Edward asks Bella what she sees in the characters, that they have no redeeming qualities, to which she replies that their one redeeming quality is total and unconditional love--not a pretty selfless love but an all-consuming, somewhat destroying one. So when I read the book it was through this filter and it helped me not hate Heathcliff and Cathy so much.

  • I have only read the first three installments, so I have no opionions on the book itself as yet. I am however, fascinated by the differences in the reviews. There are a lot of the "classics" that I never got around to when I was younger and I am trying to read them now. Generally each one has left me saying, "no wonder they called it a classic". I wonder if this will be the case this time.

  • I really enjoyed Wuthering Heights. It is hard to get into at first because of the back and forth between past and present. But it does pick up after the first 50 pages. I read it when I was younger and then read it again after reading the Twilight series. Stephenie Meyer definitely tried to parallel Eclipse with Wuthering Heights in different ways. Wuthering Heights is much darker and better written.
