Tom Sawyer

We believe that this is a good book for class reading. Some of the language is unusual and difficult to understand. Language is very different to the movie. It gives us a full description of scenes, characters and events. At the moment we look forward to each installment. We are halfway through chapter one.

Who are we? We think Tom Sawyer is a great book, too. We have read it over and over.

My friends that have read the book with me are myself. :) I was being sarcastic.
I bet your students are enjoying this book; do they find the American lingo difficult to understand, being from Australia?Feb 11, 2009 10:44 am

As a class we enjoyed this book. We became used to the language and started to relate to the characters. We found the old movie and were pleased to find it was very close to the book. We all took turns reading the character parts and the boys really laughed when they had to say "I love you" to any girls in the story. At times the narration was a bit long but we are glad that we read all the way to the end. It was interesting to see how different Tom's lifestyle was to ours now. We would recommend this to any year 6 or 7 class.
