It was good, except for end.
I loved it for the language and imagery, but the ending was awful. I expected more of a surprise and did not find it horrifying at all.

i don't think it was meant to be horrifying. people peg poe (alliteration unintended) as a horror writer but i find that many of his tales, apart from strong imagery and dark themes, are not horrifying at all. this is undoubtedly a love story, and in my opinion (an opinion that isn't well accustomed to love stories), a very good one.
