Question of the Week #15: Think like Benjamin Button

Welcome to the last Question of the Week for February!

  • Because I'm relatively young, I think the Benjamin Button-like idea of appearing 95 and having the rest of my life to look forward to is maybe closer to my actual situation, so:

I still want to accomplish a lot of things in my lifetime, but many of them are too big or too personal or too up-in-the-air to really discuss here. A good one that I know I want to do soon is to keep getting better at knitting so that I can make myself a dress.

  • There are lots of things that I want to read, do, visit, learn, etc and I accept that even if I live to be 95 (still 60 years away) I probably will not get to do them all.

So at the end of my life all I want to be able to do is to look back and have no regrets.

  • My greatest accomplishment, I think, would be that my family could talk about me with a laugh and a smile, being proud that I was a part of them.

  • I would need to know that I made a difference, that I made a difference in people's lives. And that, as I was on my journey, that I grew and changed and learned, and that, most importantly perhaps, I took chances.

  • I would only hope that I could look back and know that I did something worth doing. I would want to know that I was a good steward of my time--that I used as many moments as I could to make a difference. I know that we only have one life to live, and I want to be sure that I used the one that I had.

  • I would've wanted to write a novel, learn to swim, travel to England and ultimately, to have contributed to society.

  • A long time ago I wrote down an entire list of things that I want to accomplish by the time I'm eighty. One might think that imagining that I will have til age 95 to do them all would help me relax because I have more time to do them in. Instead, it motivates me to accomplish more now, so I can add to the list later. A few highlights from my list: find a twenty dollar bill on the street, become my mother, kiss my true love in the rain, change someone's opinion, make a difference.
