Stupid Plot Ideas
Have you ever read a book and come across something totally unbelievable? Something you would of redone or not included?
My example: Several years ago, during my Nancy Drew phase, I read this one book where the villain puts Nancy Drew and Ned in a room containing a giant steaming pool with a tiny ledge to stand on. This just seems like a bad idea all around. Why not just push them in the pool? Or throwing them to the zoo of carniverous animals the guy is housing in his backyard? And the one thing that got me was why have a steaming pool at all? Why on earth would you spend the money to heat and maintain the steaming pool on the offchance someone comes along to foil your evil plot? Aren't there easier, cheaper ways of killing off the good guy? This book was the end of my Nancy Drew phase.
Anyone else have a good one?

This isn't from a book, but in the movie "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" the villian sends a fleet of flying skyscraper sized robots into the city to steal a generator. Now, if I had the industrial capacity to build flying skyscraper sized robots, why wouldn't I use some of that capacity to build my own frackin' generator?

In Harry Potter &the Chamber of Secrets, Ron &Harry discovered that an easy way to kill the basilisk is a rooster’s crow. Later when they need to go inside the chamber they’re freaked out, not knowing how they’ll kill the creature.
How were they supposed to make a rooster’s sound? They’ve already learnt how to transfigure things like mice into ‘snuffboxes’ even in the first book. Grab just about any object u can and transfigure the stupid thing into a rooster!Apr 19, 2010 4:06 pm
