  • ATTICUS FINCH. (from To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee)

Dad-wise, I really like how he takes his kids' opinions and feelings seriously. Also, he's an excellent role model for them by being fair/kind to everyone in a racially polarized town.

  • emilyyoung stole my fictional father, but I also love the Mr. Bennett from Pride and Prejudice. He's witty, albeit his admitted mistake of marrying Mrs. Bennett, and cares genuinely for his daughters.

  • @tristiseye I know! I had a feeling we'd have lots of Atticus Finches.

  • Belgarath from the Belgariad/Mallorean series by David Eddings, due to his being whatever Polgara (daughter) needed, and being a strong character.

  • I like a lot of different ones for a lot of different reasons. There's Joe from Great Expectations, Mr. Bennett, the Vizier from Arabian Nights, Mr. Woodhouse from Emma (he means well), and Tarzan. It's so much easier to come up with my favorite fictional fathers than favorite factional mothers.

  • my fiction father as same as my real father....a bad guy when a youth but found a great woman(my mom) and married with her...made a simple family...he grew more mature and more mature and more mature...til he become a great father from many trouble that he found...from many experiences he know that his children are the treasure from God and he will take care of them with all of his power until he died...maybe this is not a story from novel...but i love it so much...we love u dad!!!

  • Literary fathers? For once, you pose an easy question - Atticus Finch is also my favorite, of course. I can't even think of a close second candidate. My dad's a fine man, but is there anyone who wouldn't love to have a father like Atticus?

  • Atticus Finch in "To Kill a Mockingbird" because of his strong sense of morality and justice, He never falters in his determination to do the right thing, regardless of the antipathy of the community.
