Question of the Week

Question of the Week #34: You: The Book

Imagine You: The Book. Is there a type of literature (or specific book) that you think you'd be? Why?

This week's question comes from dreamdust--thanks for suggesting it! (If you have ideas for Questions of the Week share them here.)

  • I would be a leather-bound, very old, well-worn Bible chock full of notes in the margins with pressed flowers, ribbons and cards from friends stored deep in the pages, with a family tree recorded in the front, and memories throughout.

  • Gothic, thriller, never-know-whats-going-to-happen-next mystery comedy type of book. I think thats also know as a romance novel. So I am definitely expecting a happy end. Oh, and in paperback please. Easily transportable. And shows the wear and tear.

  • I think I would be a book of short stories, quotes, collections of my thoughts and wisdom i have learned through the years. Very worn with yellow pages, very used; much like a journel. It will be reflecting the journey of my life!

  • I think I'm in love with the first answer! However my answer would be nonfiction current events e-book with a futurist outlook as I feel ever evolving. What fun to have my ? picked. :)

  • I think I would be a children's board book, perhaps with some crayon scribbles or something.

  • Oh, a slightly dark feminist spy thriller with international intrigue, daring do car chases, and all that jazz....

  • An artist's journal with watercolor studies of birds and insects and landscapes, and charcoal studies of faces and hands and eyes and noses and lips, and quick pencil drawings of fanciful things. Each page would have copious notes of what the artist sees and feels when studying each subject.

  • I would be a combination yellow-paged, dusty, cracked hardcover, with glossy magazine pages slipped inside, Gothic love poetry at the beginning of each chapter, an electronic port for emails and tweets, and plenty of room for doodling in the margins. Yeah.

  • I'd proly be a zine. Slapped together out of photocopy paper and bound with a bit of recycled yarn, but full of all kinds of interesting every day events.

  • I would be a history book. My book would include all my ancestors. It would show how all the skills, sacrifices, joys, sorrows, recipes, heirlooms, advice, decisions, etc., handed down from them, helped me to become the me that I am.

  • I would be a well loved paperback. Full of written in thoughts from the reader about what they're thinking as they read. It would have that fantastic "book" smell, and have been passed from person to person. It would be humorous, but have some heart-wrenching moments. Oh, and lots of snapshots from my life.

  • I would be a science fiction book. Most of the things that happen are unbelievable, but there is just enough truth there you wonder if it did really happen.
