Question of the Week
Question of the Week #39: Paper vs. Pixels
Lots of us love curling up with a paperback book in bed. But we also read books online by DailyLit.
We're curious: how does reading books by DailyLit differ for you from reading paper books? What do you like/dislike about each?

I only read DailyLit at work where I am on the computer all day writing code, so its a fabulous way to break up my day by reading a bit here and there, although I can't completely lose myself in the book the way I could at home.

I also only read DailyLit in the office. It is nice being able to take a couple of minutes to read a poem to clear my mind before getting back to the daily grind.

I read the books by Daily Lit on the Metro on my way into Paris on Mondays from our family's old county estate and again on Fridays returning back. I enjoy a 2 hour European-style lunch so often I make a basket of bread, cheese, wine, fruit and my laptop and spread a blanket and read and eat for a good hour and nap for the other half - being a Barrister I don't have to worry about my hair getting all muddled as we wear wigs in court! I also shouldn't admit to reading it in Court but so much of the time a lot of bothersome nonsense is going on that doesn't involve me. And if I’m really into what the book then I'll read some before dinner – we smart cocktails at 7 pm and dine at 8 pm sharp with our children - and because of it I'm usually a poor conversationalist during dinner as my thoughts are in the book - thank god our children are 9, 11, 13 & 15 - they squawk almost as loudly as the House of Commons on every conceivable subject - how my patient wife puts up with me!

I am trying the DailyLit approach because a head injury has made it hard to concentrate for long periods of time. I'm hoping this approach will ease my despair about losing my reading pleasures and maybe even get me back to longer stints.

Best wishes for your recovery, BookMuncher I hope everyday there will be progress. Dailylit reading has been very helpful in getting me to read books I've always wanted to read but just didn't quite get to. I still adore regular books and carry one whenever I go out.

I'm with the others who read DailyLit at work. It's hard though when I'm in the middle of a really good book and keep hitting next installment! I love it because it keeps me on track with a book, because otherwise those installments keep piling up.

@BookMuncher All best wishes for your recovery. I hope DailyLit is able to help.
@terpsgirl If you want, you can change the length of the installments you receive so you don't have to hit "sent next" as often. If you click on the "Manage" link in any installment (or on your settings page) and then click "More" next to the book's title, you can set the installment length to normal, longer (2x normal), or longest (4x normal).Aug 30, 2009 12:30 pm

Sitting up v. laying down of course! I like them both. A time for everything.
