Question of the Week #75: Happy Bloomsday!
June 16 is Bloomsday, a celebration of Irish writer James Joyce during which people relive the events in his novel Ulysses, all of which took place on the same day in Dublin in 1904. Revelers often dress in Edwardian costume and retrace Ulysses hero Leopold Bloom's route around Dublin via landmarks such as Davy Byrne's pub.

I am surprised no one has mentioned it yet but Phileas Fogg. It is not that I long for the days when you could travel the world with a British passport and a big bag of money but I would like to visit Africa, India and the far east one day.

Eat, Pray, Love: I'd love to eat my way through Italy the way Elizabeth Gilbert did in her book. Then find peace in India and love in Indonesia. And, then, write a best seller about it...have it made into a movie, get married and write another best seller!

I'll second the vote for Hermione. I would also love to trace the steps of Lyra and Will from the Golden Compass books; visit different worlds, ride an armoured bear, meet witches, battle evil. Sounds fabulous!

I'd love to follow in the path of Arthur Dent of Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. I'd love to visit other worlds, meet strange and exotic aliens and even do a bit of time travel. Celestial sights like nebulas, black holes and the "end of the universe" would look much different from space than stuck here on a planet.
I'd also like to be like Annie Jason Masmajean (Mamma Jason) of "Mirabile" by Janet Kagan. Sorting out the crazy, mixed-up DNA of the plants and animals brought from Earth, and discovering all the new species on a planet sounds wonderful.Jun 22, 2010 1:44 pm
