Thanks to Gretchen Rubin (of The Happiness Project) for the idea.

  • BOTH...mix sweet and salty and you have the best of both worlds: peanuts and M&Ms; cashews and chocolate chips; popcorn (buttered, of course) and gumdrops!

  • Banana split: salted nuts over cheeries whipped cream, minced pineapples, caramel syrup, chocolate syrup covering vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream. Yummy.

  • Sweet-salty-hot wake-up-with-a-hell-freezing-shriek breakfast:
Two slices of white bread with anchovy paste and strawberry marmalade,
while in between tiny extremely hot Brazilian chilly peppers.

  • The best ice cream I ever ate was before all this low salt non-sense. It was Butter Pecan Ice Cream with salted pecan's in a dark brown sugar cone. That was 50 years ago. But I would say that salty/sweet is the best flavor conbination. And I think I'm rather salty/sweet myself.

  • I tend towards salty (definitely potato chips over chocolate!) but agree that sweet/salty can be a good combination - I'm thinking yogurt-covered pretzels... Have to say that HOT is always a good addition tho!

  • Hard to say. You can have too many sweets and feel lousy. I have never had too many salty things. Also, salty is more satisfying.
