Every single day. They are sucking my will to live. I don’t talk to my husband; play with my kids, clean my house. My mom keeps phoning. My friends wonder where I am. I can’t help myself, I keep returning. My hands are shaking life is passing me by. Still I go, it is a compulsion. Ashton, Demi, you crazy kids what are you doing today?

The boys ran inside yelling and laughing football under arms and untied tennis shoes damp with new rain. One boy remains, he is grinning his umbrella open, rubber boots slipping off of bike pedals. He is firmly his own boy and for that I am glad.
