White Horse - White horse is horrible

Are you absolutely sure it's the worst story you've ever read? Because if it's that bad, maybe it's worth a look! You know, sort of a horrible example of what not to do. But I don't want to waste my time unless it's absolutely awful, like A Room with a View. I thought that was depressing stuff. And pointless, too. But I could be wrong.

A Room with a View - A Room with a View

Incredibly dull. Life is too short to plow through this drivel.

Question of the Week - Be My Valentine!

Constance Bonacieux - if she was good enough for D'Artagnan, she must have been something.

The Three Musketeers - Truly Memorable and One of the Greatest Adventure Novels

"Charlotte Backson, Comtesse de la Fere, Milady de Winter," said he, "your crimes have wearied men on earth and God in heaven. If you know a prayer, say it--for you are condemned, and you shall die."
Athos
Wonderful characters. Fascinating story. I haven't read this for fifty years. I'm so glad I decided to read it again. I still love it.

Yeah, I guess I ought to get out more. But you're right. I like her.

Okay, let's say "mystical adventure" makes Jane Perry unigue and Dewey original. But is Jane a cop or is she Harry Potter's sister? Jane already is unigue. Does she need to be unbelievable to be interesting? Nobody talks to the dead. Nobody reads minds. If Jane can, she may as well sit in her office and solve crimes.
Oh, wait, Nero Wolfe already did that. But he never claimed to read minds or talk to dead men.

The Three Musketeers - Wonderful!

I think you will be pleasantly surprised! It gets better and better. You'll love the Vicomte de Bragelonne!

Berlitz DailyLit Spanish Lessons - pronunciation

Thanks - that's really helpful.

Grammar Devotional - Well, if you want to read a book about grammar

.....this one comes in small bites. Come to think of it, that's probably the way a book about grammar should be written.

Promissory Payback - Promissory Payback

Everybody did it. But the b..... had it coming. I would have liked it more if Jane had walked away instead of arresting everyone. Hey, Conan Doyle did it. And Jane can do damn near anything.

You're Only as Sick as Your Secrets - No mind reading, time travel or other gimmicks in this one

Just really good writing. The best one I've read yet. Looking forward to more from Laurel Dewey.

You Can't Judge a Book by its Cover - You Can't Judge a Book by its Cover

Come on, now. First Jane talks to a dead man. Now she reads minds. What next - Jane travels back in time to solve a murder? Laurel Dewey can write - she sucks you in. But isn't the cop or PI supposed to be human - only tougher and smarter, more observant, more intuitive? Real cops and PI's don't talk to dead men or read minds.

Book Requests - As A Man Thinketh by James Allen

Read it. Considered it similar to "Power of Positive Thinking." Humbug.

An Unfinished Death - Hard to Believe

This cop is a mess. Was this a dream or an hallucination?
Tough and smart, maybe, but f'd up and alcoholic, too.
Any normal cops in this world?
