A Tale of Two Cities - Is this a reference to the guillotine?
I re-read about the first half of the book once I finished it. And I'd say yes, this is definatly referring to the guillotine, just as he refers to the carts sitting at a farm that will one day rumble through the streets of Paris, carrying prisioners to their deaths.
A Tale of Two Cities - An amazing story
This is not a 'light' read, but the writing is so amazing that it's stayed with me since I've finished it. It's definately worth the effort to read and understand everything he is saying. Simply an amazing piece of story-telling.
Book Requests - Wilkie Collins
Thanks, I have it on my 'to-read' list, along with a dozen others! Too many great books to choose from, thanks again.
Wuthering Heights - Wuthering Heights
I agree, both Heathcliff and Cathy had some serious emotional issues. And Heathcliff was especially sadistic and cruel, not a hero at all. Glad I had the opportunity from DailyLit to finally read it, it was worthwhile, but I won't read it again either.
Book Requests - Wilkie Collins
I'd like to see Armadale, No Name, or any other title added. I read Woman in White and am now obsessed with Wilkie Collins. Thanks DailyLit!!
