Question of the Week - Question of the Week #37: Where to?
"Devil in the White City's" Chicago. I'm near it in reality but it sounds so thrilling and exciting then, if not a bit dangerous.
Reader Challenges - 6 Word Autobiography
Instead, I read under the sheets.
Reader Challenges - Summer Vacation in Six Words
visits, music, books, friends, family, movies.
Question of the Week - Question of the Week #28: For Adults Only
Once again it was "Gone with the Wind" for me. I read it in 8th grade and I couldn't believe the ending. I didn't really think about it being an "adult" book at the time, but I suppose that was the first one. I read it before I saw the movie. The next one after that was "Great Expectations" for freshman high school english.
Question of the Week - Question of the Week #32: Guilty Pleasures
The "Princess Diaries" series. I planned on reading as much Jane Austen as I could, and ended up with mostly "chick lit." Also the Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde.
Question of the Week - Question of the Week #34: You: The Book
I would be a well loved paperback. Full of written in thoughts from the reader about what they're thinking as they read. It would have that fantastic "book" smell, and have been passed from person to person. It would be humorous, but have some heart-wrenching moments. Oh, and lots of snapshots from my life.
Question of the Week - Question of the Week #35: Literary Friends
I agree about Holden Caufield! Also Fred and George Weasley, Mia Thermopolis, Jane Eyre, Howard Roark, Thursday Next, and of course the Little Prince. All very different characters, but I think all of those characters would be interesting to interact with. Worst friends would be Lord Voldemort (yes I am that lame), Edward Cullen, Javert, Oedipus, and Abigail Williams. All for various reasons.
Question of the Week - Question of the Week #14: Books You Hate
I HATED "Great Expectations." I had to read it freshman year in high school, and it was so tedious to get through. I'm generally not a Dickens hater, I liked Tale of Two Cities, but I couldn't get through "Great Expectations." Also, I'm not a huge fan of "On the Road." (waits for the throwing of rotten fruits and vegetables to cease.) I know its supposed to be brilliant and whatnot, but I had to force myself to read it.
