Question of the Week - Great Movie Adaptations

A Tale of Two Cities - the 1935 B&W film with Ronald Coleman; David O. Selznick producing. I haven't seen the 1958 film and seriously doubt any version could surpass the original.
I might also add that the Count of Monte Cristo adaptation with Gerard Depardieu is far better than the book (which is close to 800 pages and heavy on description and detail.)
