Etc. - 50 Word Challenge

A small sound, like weight shifting on a floorboard, caught Edwin's attention.

He drew his revolver. This felt nothing like the practice scenarios at the academy.

"Police!" he said.

No answer.

The sound came again.

Later, at the inquest, he showed the knife wound, with its many even stitches.

A clock ticks in the kitchen.
A car goes by.
I can hear my own breathing.

"Whatcha doin'?" her mom asked.

"Writing a poem for school."

"Oh, may I see?"

Janie tore off the title.

"Sure. It's called Evening."
