This response surely affirms Vonnegut's purpose. It's not his best writing, being totally polemic, but it addresses his issue head on. As I age, I've felt frustrated by our culture's drive to emphasize both youthfulness and long life. We seek to extend lives indefinitely . . . why? Why can't we accept the natural cycle?
