Masters of Verse - Mediocre poems
If these were meant to inspire people to read more poetry, I don't think it worked. Even one Carl Sandburg poem, or a Bukowski, would have made all the difference. But then, I guess those aren't in the public domain. :P
Etc. - Question of the Week #19: Favorite Poems
My favourite poem is Leonard Cohen's "As the Mist Leaves No Scar":
As the mist leaves no scar
On the dark green hill,
So my body leaves no scar
On you, nor ever will.
When wind and hawk encounter,
What remains to keep?
So you and I encounter,
Then turn, then fall to sleep.
As many nights endure
Without a moon or star,
So will we endure
When one is gone and far.
2BRO2B - That's a zero, not an O
Clever title, Kurt, but the story doesn't quite live up to its Shakespearean allusion. I blame the disgruntled painter, who doesn't paint the whole damn mess across the heavenly garden.
Etc. - Question of the Week #17: Why do you DailyLit?
Hmm. I think I may have heard about DailyLit in my alma mater's paper, The Link. It's a great way to divide up huge books like Anna Karenina or War and Peace into manageable chunks and feel like you're making progress.
The Masque of the Red Death - More predictable than I would've predicted
There will be blood!
Etc. - Question of the Week #16: Favorite Female Writers
Definitely, absolutely Jeanette Winterson. She's one of my literary crushes, for sure!
Flannery O'Connor is also great, as Dinosaur mentioned. And though she's a bit of a dinosaur herself, can anyone really diss Margaret Atwood?
