I think it's beautifully written - lots of telling details, great evocation of time and place and, as mentioned, loads of humor (although of an older vintage - not "in-your-face" humor).Alice90: What did you find "horrible" about it?

(responding to old post from someone who apparently has finished the book, but ...) Yes, I like the humor - sudden little turns of phrase that make you chuckle, and so dry sometimes that you don't catch the comic edge until after you've read it.Anyone reading GE now?
