New Service Delivers Entire Books Via Email and RSS
DailyLit Offers Over 370 Titles Free of Charge,
In Installments Designed to Be Read In Less Than 5 Minutes
Mamaroneck, New York - May 7, 2007 - DailyLit (www.dailylit.com), a service that allows users to read entire books via email and RSS installments, today announced its formal launch and plans for aggressive growth.
DailyLit currently offers over 370 classic and contemporary titles, which can be subscribed to and read in their entirety free of charge. DailyLit's roster of titles includes Art of War, Dracula, Pride and Prejudice, and many others. Readers can choose how often and at what time they want the e-mails sent to them (e.g., every weekday at 6:30 AM so commuters can read each installment on their way to work).
Books on DailyLit can be read any place that a reader receives e-mail, including on a PDA, Blackberry, iPhone, Treo, etc. Each installment can be read in less than 5 minutes, and if a reader finishes a particular installment and chooses to read on, the next installment of the book can be received immediately.
In the coming weeks, DailyLit will introduce copyrighted works licensed from major publishers and well-known authors available for a fee, as well as additional classic and contemporary titles, free of charge.
"We got the idea for DailyLit after the New York Times serialized several classic books in special supplements a few summers ago," said co-founder Susan Danziger. "We read books that we had always meant to read because each chapter became part of our daily routine of reading the newspaper. The only thing we do more consistently than read the paper is read email. And voila! We put together a first version and began reading the classics."
"Our audience includes people like us, who spend hours each day on email but can't find the time to read a book," said co-founder Albert Wenger. "Commuters, teenagers, mothers and business travelers are all great candidates for DailyLit. In a unique twist, we're using today's technology - email and RSS - to deliver books in a serialized format in which many classics were originally published - scene by scene, chapter by chapter."
