Amusing, yet moving insight on a by-gone (?) culture

Wikipedia Tour: Nobel Laureates in Literature - It drew my immediate attention.

This book was very rewarding and I paid close attention to it. I began to seek these works to read and I purchased some; I intend to find others that were included as well.

Emeril at the Grill - Very timely for season.

Good recipes. Yum yum.

3 Short Reads by Edgar Allan Poe - Edgar Allan Poe - mad man - genius

He was a true original and in his day, shocking. The magic of his poetic lines lives on. "Annabelle Lee" is my favorite of all his works.

The Narrative of Sojourner Truth - Sojourner Truth wonderfully appropriate for Isabella

Revealing, touching, well written.

Book Sampler: Jane Austen - Just a sample of Jane Austin makes you eager for more.

An engaging view of lives of a people and a culture that are "gone with the wind." So vividly written by this gifted author - no wonder she has endured! I plan to read every book she's ever written.

Marvelous!

A Vindication of the Rights of Woman - A Vindication of the Rights of Woman

Splendid! Wordy, with flowery speech; while still managing to be profound.

It Can Be Done, Poems of Inspiration - Masters of Verse

Most of these are splendid; a few are not so much. I am thoroughly enjoying them.

The Iliad - The Iliad

One of those books you know you must read and once you start to read it, you know why you must read it. A work of art.

Wikipedia Tour: Psychology - I love you, Wikipedia Daily Lit!

I wish I had more hours in my day to explore all this thoroughly. Very worthwhile. I took Psych in school but this is far more interesting.

The Kiss - whatever

Short but not short enough. I won't give up on this author - not yet.

Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass - Heroic!

Should be read by everyone who can read.

Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass - Heroic!

Heartfelt and powerful. Shocking, sad, tender. A stupendous read.

Poems of William Blake - Poems of William Blake

So pure and so sweet.
Thus I dare not delete.
Lying in fields of clover.
Reading them over and over.

On the Decay of the Art of Lying - I thought it might be amusing.

It was boring and a waste of time, and that's no lie

On the Decay of the Art of Lying - Oh the Decay...

I found it to be boring, and not worth reading.

A Modest Proposal - Modest indeedl

I had read this many years ago, so it did not shock me. However, it surely must have gotten through to readers when it was first published. Very clever and appropritate to critique with blatant satire. This must have rubbed some consciences raw, as it was designed to do.

Question of the Week - Question of the Week #20: Potent Quotables

The book I quote from most often is "The Holy Bible," the most wonderful and complete book ever written, about the only Perfect Person who ever lived: The Lord Jesus Christ. If anyone is not familiar with this book, I suggest you start with the Gospel of John in the New Testament. It is probably the best way to get to know the Author. Read Proverbs and James for practical advice on daily living. Read the entire New Testament before the Old Testament, and may God bless you richly.

2BRO2B - 2BRP2B

Well written, I guess, but bleak and hopeless. After the initial shock, it's down hill the rest of the way. Just not my cup of tea, (or, should I say, "poison."

Many Thoughts of Many Minds (Quotations) - Many Thoughts of Many Minds (Quotations)

Very enjoyable and inspiring.

The Little Match Girl - The Little Match Girl

Having read this little story many years ago, I knew it was tender and sweet. I intend to share it w some children when Christmas 09 draws nigh. Incidentally, I am a great fan of DailyLit!!!

The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin - I had just begun to receive DailyLit and I ordered too much.

I plan to read this later. There are so many wondrously fine books that you provide for readers. I really look forward to this book. I am very excited about it as well as hundreds of others that you offer. Thank you so much!

A Doll's House - Very appropriate title

'Twas insightful and revealing. I appreciated it for the understanding it portayed of the culture, and subtle opression of woman's intellect and value. It was also entertaining tho a bit quaint. It painted a vivid picture of the times. I enjoyed it and was very entertained.

Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl Written by Herself - Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl

It is such a very fine opportunity to read such stupendous literature on line free!
