Question of the Week - Pivotal Moments in Life
I was in the first class of women to graduate from an all-male maritime academy. My leaping off point is so etched in my mind it still increases my heart rate when I recall it. I was at a friend's house working on getting up the nerve to pick up the phone and call for a taxi to take me to my first job as third mate aboard a freighter. I had to force myself to pick the phone up and dial.
This ship ended up circumnavigating the globe which was an experience I will never forget.
