Etc. - "Buttonhole books" Everyone has at least one
I don't remember recommending books often, but I have mentioned "God's Debris" by Scott Adams (Dilbert's "dad") three times to as many people in the last year and a half. Also, there are books by Terry Prattchett I'll buttonhole folks over-- those friends who already read fantasy but for some strange reason haven't tried Prattchett, at least-- but which ones depend on the individual. One can always start with "The Colour of Magic", but some people would be more likely to get into the sub-series starting with "Guards, Guards"-- for instance.
