Agnes Grey - Agnes Grey

Story of a very sweet personality. I would not have read this book on my own, as I was not into Little Women and all that, but I read it with a friend and now am very happy to have made Agnes' acquaintance via the written word.

Welcome to Biotech Nation - Biotech Nation

The story ranged between interesting and then dragging on, then back to interesting, then dragging... etc..

Alcestis - Alcestis, still has the power to outrage

I found this tale outrageous. The heroine was truly admirable, the friends were true friends, but the parents called Admetus out for what he truly was: a total narcissist jerk.

The Five Jerks You Meet on Earth - The Five Jerks You Meet on Earth

It gives you something to think about, but I thought the view of each situation, except the carnival caretaker, was rather shallow.

Reader Challenges - Summer Vacation in Six Words

visit daughter, see sites, fly home

On the Origin of Species - Darwin from his own mouth

It is a bit long to get through, but really worth while to hear the whole argument as laid out by Darwin, himself.

The Dance of Death - what the?

A peak into Death's life; how's that for an oxymoron.
Seems like it needed another installment to make sense.

Hedda Gabler - Protrait of a Self-Oriented Woman

This is a short play, well done in that it made me really despise Hedda!

Letters to a Young Catholic - Travel the Catholic world from your desktop

I enjoyed the trip around the Catholic world; interesting way of discussing various aspects of the faith.

Fat, Forty, and Fired - Interesting and Funny

This book progresses at an easy pace through the author's year off work, highlighting his movement toward a more balanced and fulfilling life. He writes with a dash of humor that keeps the story enjoyable reading.

Bugs - Profile Image

I find the same thing happens whenever I change my profile image, but if I log out and then log back in, it is changed.

Reader Challenges - Classics in 6 Words

Brideshead Revisited: following path of love to faith

Good Experience Columns - Good Customer Experience Creates Business Longevity

Really convincing advice on how to approach business from the customer experience. Customers keep you in business is the bottom line in the real world; finding out how to improve their experience is or should be a top priority for every enterprise.

The Woman in White - plot twists

This was a very interesting read. It started out without a lot happening, but sticking with it, the characters become quite interesting and the plot takes some unexpected twists.

What Everyone Needs to Know About Islam - Basic Questions Answered about Islam

This book is written from a neutral stand point. It trys to just state the facts in as neutral a manner as possible. It had some good information in it, especially concerning Islam outside of the Middle East.

I Never Saw Paris - flawed but interesting

This was a very interesting read. The angelogy was atrocious, but as a vehicle to get across the idea in the book, it can be tolerated. The thought you are left with is that trust, in the end, is what matters, based on who God is in relation to us. Nice.

Etc. - 50 Word Challenge

As a child she saw things, sometimes scary, sometimes just there. She learned to ignore them, though they never really went away. Now she's married and he wants to leave her for a more 'fit' woman. She's entered college to study the paranormal, as normal life is not working out.

Reader Challenges - 6 Word Autobiography

In love with the Lord Jesus

The Gem Collector - awful book

This is a really, really boring book. Please do yourself a favor and don't read it!

The Count of Monte Cristo - Wait and Hope

Wow! That is all I can say about this book. I would never have believed how good the writing is from having seen the movie. Many stories woven into one large story. Why do the evil prosper and the good be crushed underfoot? Wait and hope. Wait long enough to see justice. Hope enough to wait long enough to see justice. Fantastic book really. I find myself not in total agreement with everything that the character, Dantes, did in the story, but the over all lessons and life meaning still carry a bang years after it was written. This story needs to be a mini-series!

The Four Pools Mystery - feel cheated

I understand the idea of a mystery having many red herrings, but really this book was so disappointing in that it ended up seeming to be intended as a morality lesson rather than a whodunit.

The Man Who Was Thursday, a nightmare - overdone metaphor

At first I was enjoying this book as a mystery, but soon came to realize that it is meant as a metaphor and as a metaphor it really was too explicit to really appreciate

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - outdated social concern

Read this for a book club, but did not really like it that much. Hard to relate to the social concerns of the middle class in that time period.

The Metamorphosis - Poor Gregor

Really felt the impact of poor Gregor's situation by reading this in installments.

Etc. - Question of the Week #12: Unfinished Books

Yeah, I have to agree with truthsayer62; Lord of the Rings is better viewed in a movie.

Etc. - Question of the Week #12: Unfinished Books

The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
I was really looking forward to this book, as it has many fans and is it suppose to be a really historically accurate work, but neither my husband, nor I could get past the first chapter!

Question of the Week - Question of the Week #11: Your Questions

Thanks MaggieH!

Question of the Week - Question of the Week #11: Your Questions

One question that I don't see answered in the FAQ is how do you get new books onto the site? Is there a process? Can we help get material on more quickly?
Is there an email address we can send requests to? I am new here; just signed up today; am still looking around trying to find answers.
