Uncle Tom's Cabin - The Power of God

I have always believed in God, though not overly religious. I am not as pious as Tom and though I love to read I have never read the entire bible cover to cover. This book shows the power of God Almighty, and though it is not exactly a true story I feel it very easily could be. I don't want to say everyone but a large majority of people are so concerned with the pleasures of this life. They believe in God as long as everything is well but are quick to turn their backs on God in the first sign of trouble. Tom was a true and faithful servant both to his mas'r n to God. But most importantly to God even in distress he did not turn his back he kept his faith. For that reason Tom is my favorite character and I only wish that I beleived in anything half as strong as he did.

Hell-Heaven - hell-heaven: struggle of cultures

I really liked this short story. I had really hoped that pranab chakraborty would remain friends with the main character's mother. In the end he, pranab wound up ruining 2 marriages his own and that of his lovers'. He also broke two hearts, for he had two women who loved him. I love the way this author so eloquently described the inner turmoil she felt between cultures. It is often a struggle for people to stay true to their culture but also assimilate to their american life. I love the way she captured this struggle through the eyes of innocence.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - Benjamin Button

Interesting take on this lovely story. I think it was a different take. I think this story has more to do with the greed of society anf the obsecive need of people to have everyone conform. The movie is nothing like the story and I would be hard pressed to choose which is the better medium for this case. I feel as if all along benjamin button was just enjoying the life that was given to him and everyone else just wanted him to be "normal". Here is a interesting qujestion for this story. How does one's life change when each day is an adventure? How would your life experiences change if you were forced to grow younger each day?
