Secret Adversary - I'd like to get it on hard copy sometime for a second read.
She had me second guessing there for a bit as well. :-)
Secret Adversary - A delightful, quick read
I agree, Tuppence and Tommy are cute together, don't you think?
Secret Adversary - Fun, adventurous read
I really enjoyed this story of these 2 young adventurers. This was the first Agatha Christie book I read and I was really pleased at how quickly it read. I managed to figure out the 'who dunnit' in the middle of the book, but the story was so cute and fast based that I kept reading until the end to see if my guess was right.
I definitely want to read more Agatha Christie now because of DailyLit! Thank you!
Feedback - To-Read List Order Update
no, I think that's a great idea! Hopefully Maggie, or another admin, will see this soon. ;-)
Ideas - The Big Read
Great news Maggie! I'm off to sign up for Alice in Wonderland now!
Ideas - The Big Read
Is there a way you can keep members updated on what the month's Big Read is going to be before the start of the month? I just discovered, after reading the newsletter, what the March Big Read book was. Had I known, before the end of the month I would have probably subscribed and read it at the same time at other members.
Notifying members, whether it be from your blog, home page, or even an email what the next Big Read will be will allow them to sign up ahead of time. This will spark more coversation of the book in the forums and at the end of the month you could start a topic on "What did you think of the book" and everyone can reply after they've finished reading it.
Etc. - Frank Baum
cresswga - thank you for your info. I don't know why I didn't think to go look that up elsewhere, lol.
Maggie - no problem. At the time I couldn't find/didn't see the actual forum for him. Ironically, since I posted this, I see another user has actually posted a somewhat similar question to mine is his forum. Thanks for following up!
Etc. - Frank Baum
Does anyone know if there is a particular order to read all of Frank Baum's books? DailyLit has a lot to chose from and I'd like to read them in order (if there is one).
Thanks.
Sorry, I tried to post this question in the author forum but it wouldn't let me.
Paranoia - Paranoia? Is someone messing with my account?
not sure, but it's a good book. :-) You should read it! I found myself reading 6-9 installments a day.
You're Only as Sick as Your Secrets - Another great Laurel Dewey read
Once again, Dewey grips you in and makes you wanting to read the next installment. This story had a good, quick storyline that leaves you wanting to read on to see how it ends. I loved the twist. I love it when a plot line throws a twist out there you never see coming.
I thought the first part of the story with the engagement party and shaman were a little random and I felt the Dewey only added the last paragraph to pull it all back together. She could have left off that whole part and the story would have still been great.
You're Only as Sick as Your Secrets - Heartfelt and Compassionate
I agree, it was nice to see that softer, compassionate side to Detective Perry.
You Can't Judge a Book by its Cover - Insightful and perceptive author
Anonymous ranked probably third for me out of the Dewey books offered on DailyLit. Be sure and read "An Unfinished Death". It's another great Dewy book!
Reader Challenges - 6 Word Autobiography
Marriage and motherhood have enriched me!
Fetching Raymond - Great short story
John Grisham does it again with another great law story from Mississippi. I can't wait to read more of these from him.
The Woman in White - Mostly Great - But Sometimes Not
I didn't stick with it. :-( I just couldn't. I got probably over halfway thru it and I finally made the decision I just wasn't into the story anymore. The writing syle is just not my preference and as you mentioned, it does get over wordy and descriptive. I found that I was skimming installments just to get thru the wordiness.
I guess I should have just stuck with it since everyone here raves about the book. My curiosity does have me wondering how it all ends, but not enough so that I want to try to start reading it again.
Anonymous - Not one of my favorites
Having read the other Laurel Dewey books here on DailyLit, I would have to say this one probably ranks 3rd of the 3. I love her writing and, like the others, I sped up my installments to finish the book. Laurel really can draw her readers in to make them wanting more.
I was disappointed in the ending of this one. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but that definitley wasn't it.
You Can't Judge a Book by its Cover - Detective Jane Perry rocks!
I agree! I can't wait to read more of her books with Jane Perry.
You Can't Judge a Book by its Cover - You Can't Judge a Book by its Cover
The story might seem a bit far-fetched, I get that too. However, Dewey really sucks you into her storylines and leaves you with a feeling of wanting to read more. Thanks to dailylit, she's now an author I want to read more from.
An Unfinished Death - An intriguing title
I agree! Great short story, wish it was longer!
An Unfinished Death - Loved it... a must read
I agree. I had it set up to receive 4 installments at a time and it was so good that I kept getting the next installment. I finished the book in 2 days. :-)
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - Short story masterpiece
I agree. Great review.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - oh
I haven't seen the movie yet, but now reading this I'm curious to see the storyline of the movie.
Question of the Week - Question of the Week #56: Looking Back on 2009
I agree, from DailyLit, Paranoia was my fave!
Etc. - What books did you receive for Christmas?
Dan Brown's "A Lost Symbol". I started it this past week and the first few chapters have already sucked me in. :-)
Question of the Week - Question of the Week #14: Books You Hate
This may be better fitted for which book did you hate the ending, but for me it was The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. The book was so long and I was so mad at the ending of the book it felt like a waste of time pushing thru in trying to finish the book.
Question of the Week - Question of the Week #56: Looking Back on 2009
The Twilight series! I may be 34 years old, but they were still great books in my opinion. :-)
