This book propelled me into the life of the auburn-haired, orphan girl, Anne, as she finds a home with Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert in rural Canada. My senses were treated to the sounds, sights, sensations and smells of the country as Anne explored her sweet, new life at Green Gables. While reading, I often felt as though I could reach out and touch the scenery and delve into the plot, forgetting my own circumstances for a brief while. I understand why this book has been the favorite of girls --and those who used to be girls :) -- through the ages. I heartily recommend this book.
